Last week Romanian farmers staged protests across the country to express their anger as Romania was flooded with cheap Ukrainian agriculture product imports, that are being excluded from EU customs fees until June 2024. Daea asked Ukraine to limit grain exports to Romania and announced more border controls on products imported from Ukraine. The Minister of Agriculture declared that Romania remains the only import gateway for products from Ukraine, after Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Bulgaria (starting from April 24) banned the import of cereals from Ukraine.
