Volkswagen Group Korea signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a student exchange program aimed at training digital talents in the automobile industry, with a consortium of local universities, 42 Wolfsburg and the German Embassy in Korea.

The consortium, named the Future Automobiles Consortium of the Convergence and Open Sharing System, consists of seven universities. 42 Wolfsburg is a German non-profit coding school.

With the signing of the MOU, Volkswagen Group Korea will provide financial support to Kookmin University, which is leading the consortium, to help the university organize the student exchange program and select students to visit Germany.

Run by Volkswagen Group Korea, SEA:ME — Software Engineering in Automotive and Mobility Ecosystems — is a master-level curriculum aimed at fostering programmers in the automobile sector.

42 Wolfsburg will provide the educational resources and manage the students, and the German Embassy will help students settle in the country during their one-year stay.

The signing ceremony was held on April 13 at the German Embassy in Korea, commemorating the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between Korea and Germany.
