Jungkook from boy band BTS donated 1 billion won ($758,000) to the Seoul National University Children’s Hospital to help children and families in need, the hospital announced Tuesday.
The donation will be used to help fund the medical expenses of kids from low-income households and contribute to the hospital’s comprehensive care center plan, according to Seoul National University Children’s Hospital.
“I hope my donation can be a bit of a help to children in danger, and I hope children can smile happy,” Jungkook said in a press release.
The hospital, thanking Jungkook for supporting the hospital, said that the Children’s Hospital is difficult to sustain without donations like Jungkook’s.
Jungkook, whose real name is Jun Jung-kook, debuted as a member of the boy band BTS in 2013. He has released multiple solo tracks, including "Still With You" (2020), "My You" (2022) released on SoundCloud, and “Dreamers” (2022), part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup soundtrack.
