SK Telecom signed a three-party memorandum of understanding (MOU) with XON Studios, a Goyang, Gyeonggi-based virtual production company, and Singapore’s AUX Media, the telcom operator said Monday.
The MOU aims to enable technological cooperation between the three companies in virtual content production.
AUX Media, a Singapore-based virtual content production company, runs four extended reality studios. XON Studios specializes in virtual content production and operation.
SK Telecom jointly operates a visual effects (VFX) studio named Tech-driven Entertainment for Asian Movement, or TEAM, with a consortium including XON Studios.
With the signing of the MOU, AUX Media will participate in a virtual production training program operated by SK Telecom and XON Studios.
The Korea companies also plan to visit the Singaporean company’s new and renovated studios in Singapore this year.
“Through a joint project to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) in content production, the three companies will lead the AI transition of studios,” said Kim Hyuk, head of media partnership at SK Telecom, adding that “the plan is to establish a global production system by connecting AI studios based in each country.”
