“Fast X,” also known as “Fast & Furious 10,” the tenth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, will open in Korea on May 17. The Korean release will be the first release of the film globally. North American audiences will get the chance to see the film two days later on May 19.

“Fast X” depicts the final run of Dom, played by Vin Diesel, a former criminal and professional street racer who had previously settled down with his family but gets called to the street racing scene again. The film is directed Louis Leterrier, who previously directed the first two “Transporter” films (2002, 2013), “The Incredible Hulk” (2008), “Clash of the Titans” (2010) and “Now You See Me” (2013).

Vin Diesel will be accompanied by actors Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jason Momoa, John Cena and Jason Statham, among others. Korean-American actor Sung Kang also returns as Han Lue.

Previous Fast & Furious franchise films have performed well at the Korean box office, with the eighth film “The Fate of the Furious” garnering 3.6 million viewers and “F9” — the ninth installment — attracting 2.3 million viewers.

"F9" was the highest-grossing film at the global box office during the pandemic, with $681.5 million in ticket sales.
