Mirae Asset Group founder Park Hyeon-joo has again pledged to give away all dividends he received from Mirae Asset Global Investments Co., the company said on Monday.

The chairman of Mirae Asset Group has been donating all dividends he received from the company since 2010 and this year’s donation reached 1.6 billion won ($1.2 million), bringing the total amount to 29.8 billion won over the past 13 years.

In a letter sent to employees in 2008, Park promised to use all his dividend payments to support young people in South Korea. The donated funds are used for talent development programs and social welfare projects through the Mirae Asset Park Hyeon Joo Foundation and the Mirae Asset Hope Foundation. Established in 2000 with a donation of 7.5 billion won from Park, the Mirae Asset Park Hyeon Joo Foundation has been continuously carrying out social contribution activities with a focus on talent development.

Park, who prioritizes talent development as a key management philosophy in his role as Global Strategy Officer of Mirae Asset Group, is committed to creating a platform to give Korean students the skills and knowledge necessary for career success in the global arena.

“Mirae Asset Group, which practices warm-hearted capitalism, has supported over 400,000 students through close communication and cooperation between the Mirae Asset Park Hyeon Joo Foundation and its affiliated companies. Going forward, we will continue to make efforts to give back to customers and society and to spread a culture of sharing,” said a group spokesperson.

One of the key programs of the Mirae Asset Park Hyeon Joo Foundation is the Mirae Asset Overseas Exchange Scholarship program, which provides scholarships for college students to gain knowledge and cultural experiences in various countries. Since the selection of the first batch of scholarship recipients in 2007, the program has sent 6,479 college students to 50 countries as of the end of March.

In addition to the overseas exchange scholarship program, the Mirae Asset Park Hyeon Joo Foundation is carrying out support projects for children and adolescents. Furthermore, Mirae Asset Group’s affiliated companies, including securities, asset management and life insurance, are conducting various financial education programs for elementary and pre-school students, as well as global exploration programs.

As of the end of March, the total number of participants in talent development programs of the Mirae Asset Park Hyeon Joo Foundation and its affiliated companies reached 402,945.

In addition to these activities, Mirae Asset Group has also taken the lead in corporate social responsibility activities for the local community, such as donating 500 million won for recovery and relief supplies for the East Coast forest fires in March 2022 and supporting flood recovery in central regions with another 500 million won in August 2022.
