Financial Supervisory Service on alert as fewer CPAs join regulator

Only six certified public accountants joined the Financial Supervisory Service this year, less than 33 in 2017, according to Korea’s financial authorities on Tuesday. The number of CPAs joining the country’s financial regulator has since been declining to 17 in 2018, 11 in 2020, 10 in 2021, seven last year and six this year. The FSS, conscious of the seriousness of this situation, offered more job opportunities for experienced professionals in February and plans to announce successful applicants, including about eight CPAs, in the middle of or later this month.
