Marty: from virtual girl group MAVE: has been chosen as the brand ambassador for Kakao Webtoon Indonesia, Metaverse Entertainment announced on Monday.
“Marty: who is fluent in Indonesian, has a virtual idol image that is familiar to Indonesia,” explained the agency.
Webtoon “MAVE: Yet Another World” will be released in Indonesia on April 15 to celebrate Marty:’s appointment as a brand ambassador. The webtoon series, released in Korea in February, is an extension of the virtual girl group’s fictional storyline.
The webtoon, which garnered over a million views a month after its release in Korea, was released in Japan on March 31. Alongside the launch in Indonesia, the webtoon is also set to be released in Taiwan and Thailand on the same day, followed by the U.S. launch on April 16. It will be released in France on May 25.
The virtual girl group’s music video for "Pandora" surpassed 10 million views on YouTube only two weeks after its release. The “Pandora” dance challenge, based on the song’s choreography, has also gained popularity on TikTok and YouTube after different K-pop group members participated in the challenge.
Metaverse Entertainment, the agency behind MAVE:, is a subsidiary of the game publisher Netmarble, with 50 percent of its shares owned by Netmarble F&C, and 40 percent by Kakao Entertainment, the publisher of “MAVE: Yet Another World.” Founded in August 2021, the entertainment company specializes in metaverse-related businesses.
