Hyundai Motor appointed Jose Munoz, its global chief operating officer, as an inside director at a general shareholder’s meeting held at its headquarters in southern Seoul, Thursday.
The latest appointment is aimed at raising Hyundai’s global profile.
Munoz, who joined Hyundai Motor in 2019, contributed to improving the company’s sales performance overseas despite global economic uncertainties, according to the carmaker.
Hyundai also approved adding financial product sales to the company’s business activity in its articles of incorporation, in a bid to enter the used car dealership market in the second half of this year.
During the shareholder meeting, Hyundai Motor CEO Chang Jae-hoon said that Hyundai Motor “will release our first high-performance electric car Ioniq 5 N to further improve the EV brand power” this year.
