General Motors introduced its latest Chevrolet Trax Crossover for the Korean market Wednesday, with pre-order now available.

The vehicle developed by GM Korea, a country affiliate of GM, is a relatively affordable entry-level model in U.S. carmaker’s global product portfolio, with excellent performance features.

“We are paving the way for GM’s new target segment with the launch of Chevrolet Trax Crossover in Korea,” said GM Korea President Roberto Rempel during a press conference Wednesday. “The Trax Crossover will become a new chapter for the Chevy brand.”

Since its initial release in 2013, the car has sold more than one million globally under the name Trax.

In the past, Trax was launched as a small sports utility vehicle (SUV), but the new Trax is a coupe-style crossover utility vehicle (CUV). The CUV, which is between a sedan and an SUV, has gained traction in the market as demand for sedans decreases and the SUV market continues to grow.

The Trax CUV features a design that combines smooth proportions and sportiness, typical of crossovers. The alphabet X, which symbolizes crossovers, is used as a design element throughout the body.

The sticker price in the Korean market starts from 20.52 million won ($16,000) based on the LS model, about 7.6 million won cheaper than the price in the U.S. Even for the top trim RS, the domestic price is set at 27.39 million won, about 5.3 million won lower than in the U.S. The Trax CUV will be manufactured at GM Korea’s Changwon plant and exported worldwide.
