Ukraine's steel maker Zaporizhstal reduced steel production amid Russia's invasion

Zaporizhstal, one of the largest steel companies in Ukraine, said in a statement that in January 2023 it produced 166.4 thousand tons of hot metal, 89.9 thousand tons of steel, and shipped 73.0 thousand tons of rolled steel. The steel maker reported decreased production levels compared to the same period in 2022 citing a shortage of raw materials and logistical issues caused by the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine as well as reduced consumption of electricity as a result of Russia's missile attacks targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure across the country.
