Metaverse developer VA Corporation’s subsidiary Mofac changed its name to VA Studio and appointed new CEO Lee Kui-han in a move to go global and focus on content production technology.
VA Studio is a visual effects studio which focuses on virtual production and has worked on some 300 projects since it was established in 1994. Notable works include Netflix dystopian series “Hellbound” (2022), fantasy rom-com television series “My Love from the Star” (2013-14), and films “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” (2014) and “A Werewolf Boy” (2012).
Lee, who’s worked at Sony Pictures Imageworks, participated in Hollywood’s content production for 20 years on works such as Marvel films “Avengers: Infinity War” (2019), “Black Panther” (2018) and “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017), and “Men In Black II”(2002).
The studio revealed that it recently recruited artists who worked in character development for James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” (2022). It aims to continue to recruit new human resources who have experience in Hollywood production to accelerate its content production capacity.
