Elizabet Inneh-Varga is the player with the most points in the V League so far this season, despite Daejeon Korea Ginseng Corporation sitting in fifth place as of Jan. 17.
Inneh has recorded 620 points so far in the 2022-23 season, significantly more than the second- and third-highest scorers in the league.
Laetitia Moma Bassoko of the GS Caltex Seoul Kixx is the second-highest scorer with 557 points, while Jelena Mladjenovic of the Incheon Heungkuk Life Insurance Pink Spiders sits in third with 532.
The 23-year-old Hungarian player’s record beats even that of Korean volleyball royalty Kim Yeon-koung this season, surpassing Kim by nearly 200 points.
Inneh’s record is a surprise considering that KGC is struggling this season and sit at fifth on the seven-team table.
KGC has eight wins and 12 losses and has been winless since beating the Kixx on Dec. 30 last year.
The Daejeon side’s latest loss came at the hands of league leaders Suwon Hyundai Engineering & Construction Hillstate, who beat them 3-1 last Saturday.
Despite the team’s loss, Inneh still managed to score the most points, with 31 in the match.
The KGC will face the Gwangju Pepper Savings Bank AI Peppers, the league's last-place club, this Thursday at Chungmu Gymnasium in Daejeon. That game may be a chance for Inneh to lead her team to their first victory of the year.
