South Korea’s convenience store brand CU has joined hands with comedian and Youtuber Moon Sang-hoon to release the sale of an anti-hangover jelly, it said Monday.

“The move is to collaborate with an influencer to introduce a differentiated item with product power,” according to CU.

Moon is known for his comedy YouTube channel, “BDNS,” which has 1.06 million subscribers.

The anti-hangover jelly, “Happy Gummy,” contains 100 milligrams of recommended daily dose of vitamin C as well as ingredients claimed to help overcome hangovers like curcumin, milk thistles, and raisin tree fruits.

CU noted that sales of jellies at its stores have been on the rise while at the same time also of anti-hangover cures.

The tie-up comes after CU has enjoyed collaborations with other influencers in the past to come up with innovative products that helps boost its sales.

CU in the past worked with YouTuber Wineking with 450,000 subscribers. The convenience store sold wines recommended by Wineking through its mobile-based reservation purchase platform CU BAR from August 2021. All of the top 20 items sold through the service were the YouTuber’s recommendations. Wine sales at CU doubled in 2021 from the previous year.

GS25, another convenience store chain, also introduced a ready-meal with Appa Seungwoo in December last year. Appa Seungwoo, who has 1.6 million subscribers, is known for his simple recipes.
