Honda to launch online car sales platform in Korea

Japan’s Honda Motor Co. will launch a platform in South Korea where consumers can purchase its cars online based on the “one price” policy, the chief executive officer of Honda Korea Co. said Tuesday.

“Everything will be available online from payment to test drive sign-up,” Lee Ji-hong, president and CEO of Honda Korea, told reporters.

Korea will be the second global market for Honda to launch the online platform after Australia.

Honda Korea will also introduce the “one price” policy that offers the same price to all customers. Right now, the price of Honda cars varies by dealers and sales outlets.

The local subsidiary worked with local dealers to develop the online platform for two years, Lee said, adding that Honda Korea will be responsible for all promotional events and deals offered in the country.

Sales representatives will also be called “curators,” offering more professional services.

Along with the new platform, Honda Korea will roll out five new car models this year, including the Accord sedan and all-new CR-V sport utility vehicle.
