Competition is high among job search platforms to attract “career movers,” as businesses and their human resources departments put more weight on applicants’ experience and job suitability.

Remember, a business card application, released a new service “Remember Black,” according to industry sources on Tuesday. The new service provides job openings that offer a yearly income of more than 100 million won, targeting managerial personnel and professional qualification holders. This service, focusing on some of the highest-paid talent, is the first of its kind in the Korean job search market.

The company’s new service is seen as an expansion of its previous headhunting services for career movers. Remember’s headhunting service, which targets mid-career and experienced professionals, already has a strong foothold in the market, with some 3 million scouting proposals as of September last year, since its launch in 2019. The number of users who have registered their profiles for a potential new job offer is 1.2 million. The average yearly salary of job offers is about 88 million won per year, three times higher than that of office workers, which is about 28 million won, according to 2021 Statistics Korea data.

Jobplanet, a workplace review site that began in 2013, has also expanded its services by providing more personalized job-seeking options. It now provides customized and personalized results based on the user’s previous search and click history, and takes advantage of current and former employee reviews built into its database. Its new service can provide more details, such as promotion opportunities and information about work-life balance and organizational culture, on top of the terms and conditions posted in the job ad. The review website is also in the process of developing algorithms that will be able to predict the applicant’s pass/fail probability based on analyses of the applicant‘s resume and the job ad.

In October, the company released a workplace comparison service where job seekers can compare their desired workplaces. Users can designate a maximum of three companies and see the pros and cons of each assessment on the executives, all at one glance. In addition, the website provides four-year trends in the reviews, allowing users to see any upward or downward trend. “We categorize frequent interview questions into a few groups, like resume-based, position- or responsibilities-based, an understanding of the company and personal-based, and then we provide information about which company asks which questions by ratio. Many users say this service is pretty useful as a guidance for their interviews,” the company said.

Some platforms have chosen to advance their services by adopting artificial intelligence (AI). Job search portal Saramin HR now provides a new service called “AI-matching report.” Their AI service provides a matching rate based on an analysis of the applicant, with their registered profiles, and their search history on the website, as well as an analysis of talent preferences at certain companies. “The clicks of the job ads with our AI matching rates are about double the job ads without the rates,” said Saramin HR. Such trends are consistent on application pages, too, according to the company. “Applications are also about 2.3 times higher for the AI-suggested positions, compared with ones without those figures.”

Some recruitment platforms have grown quickly over the past few years based on AI matching services. Wanted, which listed on Kosdaq in 2021, differentiates itself in its database management. The AI-boosted job service manages user data by obtaining data from the application phase all the way through to the post-employment phase. Post-employment data are obtained by giving rewards after three months in the position. Wanted has been diversifying its services by adding “Wanted Gigs” for freelancers, targeting high-demand application development projects since and during the Covid-19 pandemic.
