Park Chan-wook flew to the United States to attend the Golden Globe Awards, where "Decision to Leave," the director's latest film, is nominated for best non-English language film, the film's distributor said Wednesday.
He departed for Los Angeles on Tuesday to attend the 80th Global Globe Awards, which will be held Jan. 10, according to CJ ENM and Moho Film, Park production company.
During his stay, Park will work on "The Sympathizer," according to press reports. He will direct the HBO drama series and be a co-showrunner.
"Decision to Leave," starring Park Hae-il and Tang Wei, tells the story of a detective who suspects a mysterious Chinese widow is a murderer and later falls in love with her.
Park Chan-wook won the Best Director prize for the film at the Cannes Film Festival. "Decision to Leave" has been chosen as Korea's entry in the best international feature film category of the 94th Academy Awards slated for March.
