Tving’s original documentary series “K-pop Generation,” which covers the past, present and future of K-pop, was unveiled Thursday.
The Tving original will not just be a simple interview-based documentary but will also introduce a new form of factual entertainment with dramatization, according to Tving Thursday.
In addition to the genealogy of K-pop, the documentary series will also feature episodes about female artists who have reached the so-called “golden age” of girl groups. It will also feature stories of self-producing artists who create their own content.
Through this series, Tving aims to plant in K-pop fans worldwide the desire to access intellectual approaches to the genre of K-pop and get in touch with various compositions and interesting themes that the genre covers.
Beyond the domestic perspective of existing K-pop documentaries, the influence of today’s K-pop artists and the controversies surrounding K-pop will be revealed through interviews with fans and experts who study the genre.
Top-notch artists representing K-pop, including Gangta, Leeteuk of Super Junior, Minho of SHINee, 2PM, Highlight, Suho of Exo, Hwasa of Mamamoo, Doyoung of NCT, Stray Kids, Tomorrow X Together, Alexa, Enhypen, IVE, Le Sserafim and more will appear on the documentary series.
Top critics and producers within the K-pop industry will also appear with new commentary.
In line with the trend of K-pop spreading worldwide, foreign artists working within the industry, such as JO1, SB19 and NiziU will also make appearances on “K-pop Generation.”
Through this, the documentary series plans to draw a holistic picture of K-pop and the fan culture and raise the topic of how big K-pop will grow within the global music industry, according to Tving.
