Prosecutors are waiting for Democratic Party (DP) leader Lee Jae-myung’s response to their request that he appear for questioning between Jan. 10 and 12.
The Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office told reporters Thursday that “Lee’s lawyer officially answered on Tuesday that he will not be able to appear for questioning on the day of Dec. 28 as initially requested by the prosecution.”
Lee is packed with new year’s schedules in the first week of January, according to his lawyer, but should be available on all five workdays in the second week of January instead.
The prosecutor’s office asked for Lee’s attendance between Jan. 10 and 12 and is currently waiting for the party leader’s answer.
Last week, prosecutors summoned Democratic Party (DP) leader Lee Jae-myung for questioning over suspicions that he received bribes via Seongnam's football club while he served as the city's mayor from 2010 to 2018.
