KBS is returning with a new music program in February.
The broadcasting station announced Wednesday that it will launch a new music program to replace “You Hee-yul’s Sketchbook” in February. The name of the new show is “The Seasons.”
Instead of having one host lead the station’s representative music program, KBS said it will divide each year into four seasons and have four different hosts take turns hosting the program. Rapper and producer Jay Park has been named as the first host.
In July, KBS temporarily suspend its music show that was aired every Friday night as its host singer-songwriter and producer You Hee-yul stepped down after getting embroiled in a plagiarism controversy. Though Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto responded that he does not wish to take legal action though he saw similarities in You’s songs with his “Aqua” (1999), You said he will take responsibilities for his actions though he does not agree with all the accusations made by those who claim that he plagiarized Sakamoto’s song.
You had been hosting the KBS music program for about 13 years. The program invited singers across a wide spectrum of genres who performed and discussed their music with host You.
Meanwhile, Park, whose real name is Park Jay Bum, started a new label called More Vision early this year, following his decision to step down from the CEO positions at hip-hop labels AOMG and H1ghr Music, both of which he founded. He is also the CEO of a distilled soju brand called Won Spirits, which he launched this year.
