Director Park Sye-young’s debut feature film “The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra” (2022) was invited to be screened at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival set for February 2023, according to distribution company Indie Story on Tuesday.
“The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra” has been invited to the Critics’ Week, a section created in 2015. The section is held jointly with the German Critics Association and the Heinrich Boll Foundation.
"The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra" is the second Korean film to be invited to Critics’ Week, following Im Kwon-taek's "Revivre"(2014).
The film follows a creature that spawns from an abandoned mattress which wanders around Seoul, devouring the spines of its victims.
It is slated to hit locals theaters next year.
The 73rd Berlin International Film Festival will run from Feb. 16 to 26, 2023.
