Police Divers Search for Evidence of Jewel Theft in Berlin

Police have launched a large-scale search operation in connection with the burglary of the Green Vault in Dresden. According to the Dresden police department on 25 December, about 20 police divers from different states are looking for pieces of evidence in the Landwehrkanal on the Kiehlufer in the Neukölln district since the morning hours. During the burglary of the Green Vault in Dresden in November 2019, culturally and historically valuable jewelry from the 18th century had been stolen. The historic pieces with around 4,300 diamonds and brilliant-cut diamonds had been stolen within a few minutes from the Saxon treasury in the Dresden Residence Palace. EPA/HANNIBAL HANSCHKE
