Girl group Twice will kick off the new year with the release of a new English track next month, followed by an EP in March, JYP Entertainment announced in a surprise social media post on Wednesday.
No other details were given, except for some mysterious text that read, “First, 1/4 of 2023.”
Twice had a blow-out 2022, becoming the most-streamed K-pop girl group in the U.S. with 289.4 million streams in the region.
Around the world, the group was streamed over 5.5 billion times in total.
Member Nayeon landed in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with her first solo EP last June, the first for a K-pop solo artist.
The group’s August album “Between 1&2” sold 100,000 copies in the United States, as compiled by Billboard, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The album’s lead track “Talk that Talk” surpassed 100 million views last November, meaning the band now has 21 music videos with over 100 million views in total — the most for any girl group in the world.
