As it is hard to make reservations at five-star hotel restaurants for end-year parties with the lift of nearly all Covid restrictions, consumers in South Korea turn their eyes to take-out meal kits prepared by famous hotel chefs.

The premium hotel meal kit called ‘To-chelin Guide’ features ingredients and recipes carefully selected by professional chefs. As the price gap between street restaurants and hotel kitchens has narrowed due to inflation, more and more consumers are looking for an attractive “price to value” ratio, and hotel meal kits is getting more popular. Hotel’s take-out meals include a card with the chef‘s recommended cooking guide like time for delicious meat roasting.

Lotte Hotel Seoul, which launched the industry’s first full-course fine-dining meal at the end of 2020, recently began to sell Tomahawk and Haxen meat as its premium take-out meal set. Both weigh about 1.5kg enough to eat for several people at a party. The sale will last until the end of this month. The hotel’s take-out products accounted for 30 percent of its total food and beverage sales at the end of 2020.

Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel sells 6kg roast turkey as part of its Festive Season take-out menu. Consumers can replace turkey with tenderloin beef Wellington or sirloin roast. Sales of Grand Hyatt’s take-out products sold on Thanksgiving doubled from last year.

Haevichi Hotel also sells ‘Holiday Mills To Go’ until the end of December.
