BTS’s Jin posted a picture of himself Monday with his hair cut short for mandatory military service training, a day before he is to enlist.
Jin posted a photo of his short hair on the fan community Weverse on Monday. He added the words “I look cuter than I thought I would” along with the photo.
Born in 1992 and 30 years old this year, Jin is the oldest member of BTS. In accordance with the Military Service Act revised in 2020, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea recommended a postponing of Jin’s enlistment, but Jin decided to cancel the postponement and enlist this year.
In response to a fan’s message on Weverse last month asking if we was excited for his birthday next month, Jin replied in a comment that “I was assigned to the frontlines,” which instantly became a hot topic.
Jin will enlist in the Army Front Division Recruit Training Center on Tuesday.
“There will be no separate event on the day of Jin’s enlistment to the boot camp,” BTS’s agency BigHit Music said previously. “To prevent safety accidents due to congestion at the site of the camp, we request that fans refrain from visiting the location.”
BigHit Music reiterated Monday its request that fans and the media refrain from going to the boot camp to see Jin off, saying that Jin plans to get on the bus leaving the boot camp without meeting with anyone. The agency also stressed that there is no space within the camp or around the site for media personnel to work, and firmly requested that the press stay clear of the location.
