Man gets jail time for calling customer service too much

The Changwon District Court sentenced a 51-year-old man to six months in prison and one year of probation on Wednesday for obstruction of business by repeatedly calling company customer services centers and the 112 hotline and swearing and harassing employees.
The man was also sentenced to a fine of 200,000 won ($151) and 80 hours of community service. He had made a total of 1,563 calls to one company’s customer service center from December 2020 to October last year and repeatedly harassed service center employees, swearing at a number of them.
The man also made an additional 1,884 calls during the same period to another company’s customer service center and similarly harassed the service center employees. Another 256 calls were made by the man found guilty July to April last year.
