Im Jong-seok, “The Accusation of an Attempt to Conceal the Death of a Civil Servant in the Yellow Sea is a Political Delusion”

On November 30, former chief of staff Im Jong-seok condemned the Prosecution Service, which requested an arrest warrant for Suh Hoon, former Cheongwadae national security director. He demanded the prosecutors to stop their political retaliation on the Moon Jae-in government.

Wednesday on social media, Im wrote, “The Yoon Suk-yeol government’s argument that the Moon Jae-in government systemically manipulated and concealed the death of a civil servant in the Yellow Sea is merely a political delusion and is a stubborn attempt to justify political retaliation.”

The former chief of staff also said, “The Yoon Suk-yeol government is using the Board of Audit and Inspection as a political tool, abusing the powers of the Prosecution Service knowing no restrictions, and burying its nose in political retaliation against the Moon Jae-in government,” and asked, “How far must they collapse to end this sword dance of political retaliation, stop, and reflect?”

Im further pointed out the problems in the behavior of the two investigative agencies and asked, “Why can’t the Prosecution Service and the Board of Audit and Inspection, which have openly jumped into the center of politics, see that now is the greatest crisis for their organizations?” He also said, “The government of the Republic of Korea can never belong to any one person.”

Im asked the Yoon government to “stop gnawing away at your own flesh” by disgracing and hurting the previous government and asked after the welfare of the people, the country, and the economy of the Republic of Korea “in the face of a winter republic, where the nation appears to have suddenly turned into a politically backward country.”

The prosecutors investigating the death of the civil servant in the Yellow Sea requested an arrest warrant for Suh Hoon on charges of misfeasance and of preparing and employing a false state document. The suspect questioning (warrant review) before Suh’s arrest will be held at the Seoul Central District Court on December 2.
