Boy band BTS won the Worldwide Icon of the Year award during the first day of the two-day 2022 Mnet Asian Music Awards (2022 MAMA) ceremony that took place in the Kyocera Dome Osaka in Osaka, Japan, on Tuesday.

One of BTS's members, J-Hope, will be performing on the second day of the event, on Wednesday.

The Favorite Asian Artist award went to JO1, an 11-member Japanese boy band formed with the finalists of the show “Produce 101 Japan.”

The Yogibo Chill Artist award went to boy band Stray Kids and the Favorite New Artist award went to four K-pop girl groups — IVE, NMIXX, Le Serrafim and Kep1er.

The Worldwide Fan’s Choice Award was given to 10 acts — Stray Kids, Seventeen, Treasure, Tomorrow X Together, GOT7, PSY, NCT Dream, Enhypen, BTS, and Blackpink.

Girl group KARA performed as an entire group during the ceremony for the first time in roughly seven years.

The group performed its hit songs “Mr. (2009)” and “Lupin (2010)” while unveiling the performance for its new song “When I Move,” the lead track of group’s latest album “Move Again” released on Tuesday.

The girl group currently consists of Gyuri, Seungyeon and Youngji. Nicole and Jiyoung, who left the group in 2014, rejoined for the release.
