Lebanese women demand suitable punishment for sexual offenders

More than half of women who were subjected to sexual assault in Lebanon did not report the crime to authorities because of their 'honor'. Sexual assault crimes are increasing by the day in Lebanon, at a time when sentences for such crimes remain short and unmatched to the size of the crime committed, mainly due to the deeply rooted association in society between women?s bodies and the entire family?s dignity and honor.
