Hyundai Motor to resurrect its Pony Coupe concept car after five decades

Hyundai Motor Co. will work with Giorgetto Giugiaro and his team to bring back modern version of the Pony, coupe that was the first car exported by the company. The Pony Coupe Concept, which was first unveiled during the Turin Motor Show in 1974, will be resurrected in the spring of next year. The DeLorean DMC 12, the car that appeared in the movie “Back to Future,” was the motif for the Pony Coupe. The coupe was created by Giugiaro, who also designed the Pony sedan for Hyundai Motor. The Pony designs influenced Hyundai Motor’s cars, including the award-winning Ioniq 5 electric vehicle and N Vision 74 hydrogen electric hybrid car, according to Executive Vice President Lee Sangyup.
