An initial estimate by nonprofit group Gift of the Givers on scene indicates more than 800 shacks were destroyed and more than 1,500 people displaced in the fire which raged 21 November. Nonprofit groups Gift of the Givers and Living Hope are providing humanitarian aid in the densely populated Masiphumelele shack district.
