LIG Nex1 joins state-led AI-guided submarine solution project

LIG Nex1, a South Korean defense company, will participate in a state-led project to build automated intelligence mission support systems for submarines. The project worth 39.6 billion won ($29.11 million), supervised by the Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement (KDIT), would be the first attempt to apply AI on core functions of combat systems, targeting to automate detection and tracking of submarines and risk assessment, and armament allocation.
