Emart's branch in Yeonsu District, Incheon, temporarily shut and resumed operation Friday as the store got overcrowded due to a promotion celebrating the SSG Landers winning the 2022 Korean Series.
The SSG Landers took the KBO's first wire-to-wire regular season title and won the 2022 Korean Series. Emart is the owner of the SSG Landers.
The branch limited the entrance of customers starting at noon on Friday for the sake of safety as more than expected customers visited the store.
The branch resumed normal operation starting at 2 p.m. the same day.
"We have prepared to create a safe shopping environment and guided safety regulations ahead of the promotion putting the safety of customers and our employees the highest priority," said a spokesperson for Emart.
"We are operating the store according to the safety regulation by limiting the number of customers when the store gets overcrowded and dispatching safety guards."
A mass promotion event celebrating the SSG Landers' victory is being held through Nov. 20.
