EnterpriseBlockchain, Grab to run JV for gig job platform in Indonesia

EnterpriseBlockchain Co., the deep tech subsidiary of South Korea’s Hanwha Systems Co., will launch a joint venture in the gig economy with Southeast Asia’s largest car-hailing service provider Grab.

The two companies announced Wednesday they reached an agreement to establish a talent marketplace platform for gig workers in Indonesia.

EnterpriseBlockchain launched the first job matching platform Yogig for gig workers in Korea in September last year and added an in-app matching service for those based in their communities in June this year.

The company has shown greater interest in the global gig economy market that is forecast to grow at an annual growth rate of 17 percent and chosen Southeast Asian people’s everyday lifestyle platform Grab as its partner to introduce its platform in the region.

Through their partnership, EnterpriseBlockchain plans to unveil a talent marketplace platform allowing gig workers to find jobs and receive financial services for the first time in Indonesia. It will help establish a sustainable ecosystem for the gig economy by enabling part-time workers to have record and data on their skills, talents and income that would help them more valuable to companies.

EnterpriseBlockchain as a deep tech company will develop blockchain-based services for gig workers such as the job matching platform based on NFT curriculum vitae, while Grab will provide its broad network and business knowhow as a ride-hailing and food delivery service leader in Southeast Asia.

Grab, launched in 2012, has secured an average monthly user of 32 million in 480 cities of eight Southeast Asian countries. It has over 5 million delivery workers and 4 million membership stores and dealerships, and its partner firms last year delivered annual revenue of $8.9 billion.

On the back of the achievement, Grab successfully made debut on the Nasdaq on Dec. 2 last year.
