Girl group NewJeans posted a video clip on its official YouTube channel to root for all test takers of this year's College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), or suneung, which is set to take place on Thursday.
“It’s D-1 to the important College Scholastic Ability Test,” the members said in the video. “It must be really nerve-racking, but you guys worked really hard and efforts will pay off. We wish you guys all the best.”
The group also warned about the notoriously cold weather that always visits on the day of the test and asked the test takers to prepare for a sudden temperature drop.
“We will always root for you guys until your dreams come true,” the members added.
Two of the five-member girl group — Minji and Hanni — are aged 18, the same age as most of the senior high school students who will be taking the test on Thursday. The other members are younger.
NewJeans debuted in August and has been soaring in popularity. It set a new record for a debuting K-pop group by selling 311,271 copies of its first EP “New Jeans” in a week. Songs “Attention,” “Hype Boy” and “Cookie” have landed on the music charts of Billboard and Spotify.
