SK ecoplant will jointly develop hydrogen and ammonia businesses with Korea Southern Power (Kospo), the company said Monday.

SK ecoplant and state-run Kospo signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday at the SK ecoplant headquarters in Jongno District, central Seoul.

The goal is to establish production infrastructure for a stable supply of hydrogen and ammonia. SK ecoplant will develop green hydrogen and ammonia business models in relation to other renewable energy projects, and Kospo will oversee the production process and logistics measures.

The two companies will also work together to develop low-carbon solid oxide fuel cells. SK ecoplant will develop carbon capture and utilization techniques and hydrogen liquefaction technology, while Kospo will provide the site and facility for tests.

“SK ecoplant has already secured renewable energy solutions such as fuel cells, offshore wind power plants and solar energy, and plans to establish an all-encompassing hydrogen value chain,” said Park Kyung-il, SK ecoplant CEO.
