WeMakePrice is moving all its data to Google Cloud, Google said.

The move will be handled by Megazone Cloud, a local company.

Instead of simply using the “lift and shift” method – moving an application and its associated data to the cloud without redesigning the app – WeMakePrice will utilize Google’s Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

GKE is a comprehensive open-source system, which optimizes an application and automates software applications and distribution. Unlike the “lift and shift” method, GKE improves and moves the application, according to Google Cloud.

WeMakePrice has an existing business relationship with Google, with the Mountain View, California tech company providing query and analytics services.

“Google Cloud has been working closely with WeMakePrice since 2016 to support the establishment of personalized shopping services,” said Andrew Chang, managing director of Google Cloud Korea. “We are delighted to expand our collaboration in the infrastructure sector and further support WeMakePrice’s journey of innovation.”

Using GKE will allow WeMakePrice to more quickly transfer its data and provide a stable service to its 23 million users. WeMakePrice will move all of its service systems to Google Cloud using the GKE, and aims to strengthen its shopping platform capabilities based on Google Cloud’s artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.
