Saudi crown prince books 400 rooms in downtown hotel for his 2-day stay in Seoul

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, one of the richest in the world, is not sparing any money during two-day his stay in South Korea where business deals from smart city to nuclear energy infrastructure would be discussed, booking 400 rooms out of 1,058-room Lotte Hotel in downtown Seoul.

Upon stopping at Seoul on Nov. 17 on his way home from G-20 summit conference in Bali, he is scheduled to meet resident Yoon Suk-yeol and business leaders to attract investment in the Neom City project, the low-carbon smart city construction plan under his oversight. The most powerful Saudi leader after the king has last been in Korea in 2019. He had met with chiefs of the country’s top business groups Samsung, Hyundai Motor, SK, and LG then. Whether he would meet with all of them is uncertain, but he may make time for Samsung chair Jay Y. Lee.

The hotel confirmed that 400 rooms, including the royal suite on the 32nd floor of the Executive Tower, have been booked for Prince Mohamed and his royal entourage. The crown prince will likely use the royal suite, which is the topmost room in Lotte Hotel Seoul. The largest suite in Korea has been used for most important VIPs. Former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, former French President Fran?ois Hollande, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and Microsoft Founder Bill Gates used the room. One night stay in the suite is 22 million won ($16,366).
