SSG Landers celebrated its first Korean Series champion title on Tuesday after beating Kiwoom Heroes in six games in the best-of-seven series. It ended the last game with a 4-3 victory at home, Incheon SSG Landers Field, west of Seoul, to make KBO history as the first wire-to-wire pennant winner. The feat as its first KBO win under the newfound name Landers under Shinsegae ownership and fifth dating back to the days of SK Wyverns brought tears to outfielder Choo Shin-soo and closing pitcher Kim Kang-min, both veterans from U.S. major experience as well as club owner Chung Yong-jin, vice chairman of Shinsegae Group. Emart, retailer under Shinsegae bought SK Wyverns from SK Telecom for 135.3 billion won ($119 million) in 2021.
