The 2 remaining South Korean miners, aged 62 and 56, trapped in a zinc mine that collapsed on Oct. 26 in Bongwha, North Gyeongsang Province, were miraculously rescued in stable condition after almost 10 days late Friday, holding onto their life strings by living on 30 sticks of instant coffee powder and 10 liters of water. The two miners kept warm by building a vinyl tent and lighting a fire. They boiled water from that fire using the stainless from a kettle to live on mixed coffee that contains sodium and calorie. A stick of 50 kcal Dong Suh Mocha Gold Mild coffee mix has 5 mg of sodium, 9 g of carbohydrate, 1.6 g of fat, 6 g of sugars, and 1.6 g of saturated fat. A group of seven miners had been trapped when a vertical shaft gave ground. Immediate rescue had failed to reach the two.
