Toolgen gains upper hand in CRISPR patent dispute over US schools

South Korea’s biotech firm Toolgen has gained the upper hand with a prior inventor status awarded from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) against the University of California and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in patent interference disputes over gene-editing technique CRISPR. Kosdaq-listed Toolgen shares jumped 2.86% to 61,200 won ($42.69) in early trade on Tuesday.
