Mirae Asset Global Investments announced that its operation in India has opened a branch in Dubai—its 22nd branch and first abroad. The firm selected Dubai as its gateway to advance into the Middle East market, as the city is geographically close to India and Indians represents 35% of the city population. Before the branch opening, Mirae Asset’s Indian unit operated investment funds worth 180 billion won ($125.8 million) flowed from Dubai. Founded in 2008, the Indian unit operates 37 funds worth 21 trillion won as of the end of August.
