Samsung Elec commands 16.5% share in foundry market, TSMC 53.4%

Samsung Electronics Co. earned $5.59 billion in revenue from foundry business in Q2, up 4.9% from a quarter ago. Its market share in the global foundry market rose 0.2 percentage point to 16.5%, the second-largest after Taiwan’s TSMC that controlled 53.4% with $18.15 billion in revenue. The gap between their market share narrowed to 36.9% points from 37.3% points.
