Famous Songwriter Don Spike Arrested for Taking Drugs

Don Spike (45, born Kim Min-su), a singer and well-known songwriter, was arrested by the police for using drugs.

On September 27, the Nowon Police Station in Seoul announced that the previous day, they arrested Don Spike and were questioning him for violating the Narcotics Control Act.

Don Spike is suspected of taking methamphetamine (a.k.a. Philopon) in a hotel in Gangnam, Seoul at around 8 p.m. Monday. He was also charged for taking the drug several times in Gangnam and other areas. Don Spike tested positive in a simple reagent test for illegal substances.

The police obtained information on Don Spike’s drug use while questioning another suspect arrested on the same charge. The police made the arrest after the court issued a warrant.

Officers also confiscated 30 grams of methamphetamine from the songwriter’s hotel room.

A police representative mentioned a need for further investigation and said they were considering requesting a warrant to keep the songwriter under arrest during the investigation.

Don Spike debuted as a guest member of the band Position in 1996. He was later recognized as a songwriter for several songs performed by famous singers. Recently, he veered off his musical career and turned chef, displaying his incredible meokbang (eating) skills in several variety shows.
