Production costs across South Korean industries rose 8.7% on average from a year-ago period in H1, the largest increase since 2009 as the result of spike in raw material prices, dollar-won exchange rate, and wages. Wages affected the cost gains the most with 3.2% points, followed by raw materials 3% points and dollar-exchange rate 2.5% points. By industry, the rise in production costs in the manufacturing sector was 10.6%, higher than that of the service sector with 6.6%.
