Statistics Korea to publish number of workers aged 75 and above from 2024

Statistics Korea will publish data on the number of senior workers, aged 75 and above, from January 2024 as more seniors choose to work well beyond their retirement age in the super-aged country. In Korea, the number of employed and those seeking employment who are aged between 55 to 79 hit 15,098,000 in May, breaching the 15 million mark for the first time. Of them, 68.5% wished to continue working until 73 years old on average. Their average retirement age was 49.3 based on the job they had worked the longest years.
