Study confirms navigators between Ecuador and Mexico long before the conquest

epa10161818 An undated handout photo made available by the Anthropological and Contemporary Art Museum of Guayaquil on 05 September 2022 shows a figure from the pre-Hispanic Jama-Coaque culture, called Tocado horn and coquero, after a study between Mexico and the coast of Ecuador. A recent archaeological study confirms that the pre-Hispanic Jama-Coaque culture, developed on the coast of Ecuador, maintained direct maritime contacts with Colima, in the north of the Pacific of Mexico, long before the Spanish conquest. Coincident attributes in ceramic pieces and dental applications in skulls found in archaeological sites in Mexico and Ecuador examined for the study led experts to confirm theories about this maritime integration between 300 and 800 AD, or some 700 to 1,200 years before the Spanish conquest.
