Espionage film “Hunt” starring actors Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung surpassed 1.5 million in ticket sales, topping the Korean box office for five days in a row.
According to the Korea Box Office Information System on Sunday, “Hunt” garnered approximately 394,000 moviegoers on Saturday and another 504,132 on Sunday.
“Hunt” hit local theaters on Aug. 10 and tells the story of 1980s agents who start suspecting each other of being undercover moles.
The box office runner-up was the historical war action film “Hansan: Rising Dragon,” followed by the disaster action “Emergency Declaration.”
“Hansan: Rising Dragon,” which stars Park Hae-il as the legendary admiral Yi Sun-sin (1545-1598), also surpassed 6 million in ticket sales on Monday according to its distribution company Lotte Entertainment.
The film opened in Korean theaters on July 27 and centers around Yi’s naval victory in the Battle of Hansan Island in 1592, in which Admiral Yi fought against the Japanese invasion.
