Singer BoA was confirmed positive with the coronavirus, according to SM Entertainment Thursday.
“BoA tested positive for Covid-19 and is receiving treatment and rest under quarantine,” the agency said through its global fan community Kwangya. “The agency will follow the governmental measures and will do our best to ensure the artist’s safety and health so that she can solely focus on recovery.”
BoA is set to appear as one of the juries on Mnet’s dance survival show “Street Man Fighter,” which will begin airing from Aug. 23.
BoA, whose real name is Kwon Bo-ah, debuted in Korea in 2000. She made her Japan debut in 2001 with the single “ID;Peace B,” and two of her Japanese albums became million-sellers. She had a successful career as a solo singer in both Korea and Japan, releasing hits such as “Atlantis Princess” (2003), “Girls On Top” (2005) and “Hurricane Venus” (2010).
