Hyundai Motor will deliver its 27 Xcient Fuel Cell trucks to its clients in Germany, the largest commercial vehicle market in Europe.
The carmaker said it will sign a contract with seven German companies including logistics and manufacturing companies.
The seven companies were selected by the German government, which is currently pushing hard for the expansion of eco-friendly commercial vehicles. Hyundai Motor in April established its German subsidiary in Freising, Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility Germany, which is solely dedicated to the sales of hydrogen-powered trucks.
The 42-ton hydrogen-powered truck is powered by a 180-kilowatt hydrogen fuel-cell system and can drive up to 400 kilometers (250 miles) on a single charge.
Germany is the second European country the hydrogen-powered trucks will be exported to after Switzerland. Hyundai delivered 46 trucks to 23 Swiss companies between 2020 to June 2022.
It aims to expand the sales network of hydrogen trucks to other European countries such as Austria, Denmark, France and the Netherlands.
